INDIAN HEAD PENNY
- Minted 1859-1909
- Diameter: 19mm
- Indian Cents minted from 1859-1863 and some in minted 1864 were minted of 88% copper and 12% nickel
- Indian Cents minted from 1865-1909 plus some minted in 1864 were minted of 95% copper and 5% tin (these coins are considered "bronze")
- Designed by James B. Longacre
- Tradition has it that Longacre's young daughter, Sarah, posed for the portrait one day while she was visiting her father at the mint. The apocryphal story claims that an Indian chief was there at the same time and playfully placed his feathered bonnet on her head. Supposedly, Longacre made a quick sketch, which he later used as a model for his copper and gold coin designs

- The obverse (front) of the coin shows an idealized Native American.
- The reverse (back) of the coin shows an American buffalo. The buffalo used in the design was named black diamond, the largest bison (weighed almost a ton) in captivity
WINGED LIBERTY HEAD or "MERCURY" SILVER DIME
- Minted from 1916-1945
- Composed of .900 Fine Silver and .100 copper
- Diameter: 17.9mm
- Designed by Adolph A. Weinman
- The designer's monogram AW is right of neck
- The wings crowning lady liberty's cap on the coin's obverse are intended to symbolize freedom of thought
- The reverse features an ancient Roman fasces as the symbol of national authority
WASHINGTON BICENTENNIAL QUARTER
- Minted 1975 & 1976
- Designed by John L. Ahr & John Flanagan
- Coins for circulation were composed of copper/nickel
- Features the 1776-1976 dual dating on the coins obverse commemorating the Bicentennial
- Features a colonial drummer with a victory torch encircled by thirteen stars on the reverse
JFK HALF DOLLAR
- Minted from 1964-present
- Diameter: 30.6mm
- Designed by Gilroy Roberts & Frank Gasparro
- Features the presidential coat of arms on the reverse
- Features the bust of John F. Kennedy on the obverse
- In 1975 & 1976 a dual dated 1776-1976 bicentennial version of the JFK half dollar was minted featuring Independence Hall from Philadelphia on the reverse and the dual date on the obverse. This new reverse was designed by Seth G. Huntington.
- Under existing law, U.S. coin designs could not be changed more often than every 25 years; the Franklin half dollar was then only 15 years old, and its replacement would quite literally require an act of congress. Partisan disputes were largely set aside in recognition of the nation's and the world's loss, and congress managed to pass legislation permitting a change in the half dollar's design with only a few weeks' debate. The act of December 30, 1963 made the Kennedy half dollar a reality
- The first year of issue, 1964, was minted of .900 solid silver and .100 copper. From 1965-1970 the JFK half dollars were minted of .400 silver. From 1971-present, all JFK half dollars minted for circulation were minted from copper/nickel.
